First class assignment: fake vs real news
One the best lessons that learned while I was a student was how to figure out whether articles I read were real or not. Today this skill has become more important than ever. We are living in an age when you have more access to information either real or fake than any other time in history. Much has been made in the media about “fake news” and who is producing the stories. The good thing about all of this propaganda is that you have the opportunity to use science to figure out whether or not people are telling you the truth.
This assignment also gives you the tools to figure out if the stories you are reading are real or fake. Go over the handouts that I have attached, they will serve as tool that will assist you in deciphering if the articles I attached are scientific or not. There are certain ways that you can detect if an article is presenting real facts or passing along an agenda. These agendas can be used to misinform people from a scientific understanding of our natural world.

As we move forward, we need to compare how we move (bipedalism) to our closest living relative; the Chimp (knuckle walking). Check out this website; http://evoanth.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/lets-twist-again/
It does a great job breaking down the differences. |
